Dan this is completely standard..You're playing a 6max tourney im guessing and villain only has 8bb's...The villain is really short and needs to double up before the final so shoving a Q6 suited 5 handed is fine here because he is never in that bad of shape against ppl's normal calling range...He still has fold equity and can take down the blinds and antes since that is crucial to his stack.

You are right, Jonny.
I guess I hadnt taken his m into consideration at this point. It was a 9 max, though we were playing short-handed because we were down to the last 2 tables However, he had been doing this for over an hour about once per orbit when his stack in relation to the blinds was somewhat better. Dan if you look through the archives on 2+2, there is a hall of fame page and a part of that page is Gigabet's Theory of Stack sizes. I'd find a link but I'm at work. Basically it describes times when it will be optimal to knowingly make -EV plays because if you view the tournament as a whole it is actually a +EV move. This is a slightly advanced concept, and I'm not positive I 100% understand it at present time.
However this example is fairly simpler and the reasoning is pretty much "I'm terribly short I'm about to get blinded out. I need to jam and pray I get lucky if I have any kind of chance on shipping this tournament." |

If you honestly are wondering why Chris did this with his hand you should not be playing 150 dollar buy ins online. Even I know this and im awful. You think he should fold every hand until he wakes up to AK? How did that work out for ya this tourney. |

you said it yourself, the guy kept shoving and no one was calling
no reason for him not to keep it up, he got to freeroll with all of the chips he had stolen to run a 60/40, if he lost so what he shouldnt have had those chips in the first place |

you also gotta remember hes straight up p5s ot so his skin is a little bit thicker than most. i didnt see the hand so i cant really help. ill just assume that your lack of understanding after 3 years is probably due to the lack of outside influences on your game. youre taking the right step in sites like this one though. you might want to not take things so personally though because youre going to run into a lot of people with much worse things to say than afink does. it is the internet.

This may be true Ellis and probably is. But your using this thread as an example? Really..
To set it up for RiverDrowns who I thought understood my sense of humor a bit but apparantly not.. The hand went something like this.. First of all it was dated June of 2007. It was probably a nightly 100K cause it was a 150 buy in.. Anyway he stated it was on FT bubble cause table was 5 handed. UTG had about 8BB's at a 5 handed table on FT Bubble.. He shoved and OP woke up to AK and called and shover tabled Q6 suited and of course got there. And of course OP goes on to say how hes lost a few K in the last three years while shover who I think is Chris Klodnicki in real life sloppyklod on stars has over a million in cashes. And he wants to understand what happened.. 3 years later? And im the moron Ellis? So if I post the hand from the 10R back in 2007 where I lost a 200BB flip ITM versus AJKHoosier and wonder why it happened why he became the number one online player in the world while I grind out 180's and 90 mans for fun are you going to give me the same type of constructive answers? Ok so Im the moron.. |

Afink,
I think he was referring to the fact that you are 40 years old and still live with your parents. In case nobody has told you, that is not normal. |
